Before we get into fabric-specific advice, here are the golden rules that apply to all luxury abayas:
- Always check the care label first. Our abayas include care instructions specific to the fabric used.
- Never wring or twist your abaya when wet — this distorts the fabric and can damage delicate fibres.
- Avoid direct sunlight when drying, as UV rays can fade colours over time.
- Store hanging, not folded, to prevent permanent creases in structured fabrics.
- Use a garment bag for storage to protect from dust and humidity.
Caring for Italian Crepe Abayas

- Washing: Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, or use a delicate machine cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Avoid hot water, which can cause shrinkage.
- Drying: Lay flat on a clean towel or hang on a padded hanger. Never tumble dry.
- Ironing: Iron on a low-medium heat setting on the reverse side of the fabric. Use a pressing cloth to protect the surface.

- Ironing: Use the lowest heat setting and always iron through a pressing cloth. Better yet, use a garment steamer for a wrinkle-free finish without direct heat.

- Storage: Store in a breathable garment bag. Avoid plastic covers which can trap moisture and affect the fabric's texture.

Barbie fabric's smooth, refined surface is one of its most appealing qualities — here's how to keep it looking pristine.
- Washing: Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle machine cycle. Use a colour-safe detergent to maintain the fabric's vibrancy.
- Drying: Hang to dry on a padded hanger in a shaded area. The smooth surface dries relatively quickly.
- Ironing: Medium-low heat on the reverse side. The fabric responds well to steaming if you prefer a no-iron approach.
- Storage: Hang in a garment bag. Barbie fabric is relatively resilient, but keeping it covered protects its smooth finish from dust.
Dealing with Stains
Act quickly — the sooner you treat a stain, the better. Blot (never rub) the stain with a clean, damp cloth. For stubborn stains on any of our premium fabrics, we recommend taking your abaya to a professional dry cleaner rather than attempting home treatment, which can sometimes set the stain further.
